SW Social Web is now bringing you a brand new plugin for elgg 1.8 that will allow you to increase or decrease the character limit of the wire. It extends the functionality of The Wire and it is safe to use it. 

Also it has a brand new feature, which is Privacy for wire post. Now you can allow people to choose who can see their wire posts. I came up with this since there's no plugin for elgg 1.8 that will let you do this.

Compatible with most of the themes developed for elgg 1.8

This plugin extends the plugin The Wire. You must enable The Wire before using it.

This has been developed using Google File Viewer I choosed over Embed.it since their terms of use is not clear to me.
